Contract Researchers 101

Finding general (and free) information about executive researchers isn't easy. We've put this page together as a service to recruiters in need of more information.

The Pros' and Con's of Contract Research is an article that answers just about any question you could have about contracting with a research partner.

Research Tips

$100,000 rule of thumb for independent recruiters

Contracting out the research side of your business can be the best option for independent recruiters working on searches where the compensation package of the incumbent is valued over $100K. However, due to increased time involved in identifying lower profile executives vs. the lower commission the external recruiter will receive for these types of projects, contract research may not be the most viable option.

Please call for a consultation if you are unsure whether contract research is right for you.

Paying for research

Some of the executive recruiters we contract with bill their corporate clients directly for the research expenses required for their project. This is an especially good idea on mid-managment and junior executive level searches and for "needle in a haystack" type searches with uncertain outcomes. Other clients never thought about asking their clients to pay for the research before we mentioned it; and they were glad we did!
